INTO THE RESEARCH FACILITY

Michi and Sarah retreat from the hospital as Carina and Dorota swing around to pick them up. Always the man showing up coincidentally at the right place and time, Karl happens to meet back up with the crew as if he'd never left. Now, with the shuttle landed a ways outside the town where prying eyes can't watch them, Michi, Sarah, Carina, Dorota, and Karl have a chance to relay their information and decide on a step forward.

Sarah looks at the rest of the group, "So, it turns out that Brennan Hughs was allegedly attacked by Reavers. At least, there was a John Doe admitted with that, and it seems to match Mister Hughs. They were in the hospital, but got transferred to the research facility." She glances at Michi, "So getting in there is going to need to be a priority to get this done."

"Okay, so..." Dorota begins for Carina, who's flying. "First of all, our man was stealing drugs from the hospital. Which might mean he got caught and they decided to make him disappear instead of just firing him. Second of all, his girlfriend is crazy. Fun, but crazy. "And the attack would be the opportunity. This...research facility, what do we know? I agree that breaking and entering might be needed." Again. Twice in one day, even.

"This Hughs fellow apparently not the only one attacked. There were a few that happened a couple of days ago. It has the townsfolk quite worried." Karl tells them as he leans non-chalantly where ever it is the crew have gathered "There have been folks complaining about Long Security, seems like its run by the mayor Dr. Long. You would think the mayor would be using his security force to stop attacks, and not let them get all cocky with people." the man shrugs though as if its one of those things that can't be helped.

Michi listens to the information. This is like a race. You need to know your vehicle and know your course. You need to know what the weather conditions are. You need to know the variables and then you need to make a plan and deal with it when the plan goes to hell.

"For now, what he was doing and why doesn't matter. The job is to make sure he's not dead and get him out of trouble if he's alive. So, here's the plan." And he begins outlining.

1. Carina, assuming she finds someone acceptable to her tastes, locates someone who works in a high level position in the research facility to take on as a client. Tonight. That gets a potential obstacle out of the way.

2. While Michi goes on his date with the nurse, Sarah and Dorota use the data stolen from the hospital to cobble together IDs that will get them inside without too much trouble.

3. In the wee hours of the morning, they enter from a side entrance or back door. Whatever the blueprints suggest are best. They make their way to the research facility and figure out how to get inside from there.

"We dont have a lot of info on what kind of security the research facility has or who might still be working there. We'll be improvising once we're inside. We go in armed, we do this as quietly as possible. If we have to make a run for it, we get to the parking lot, hotwire a vehicle to take out to the shuttle. Then we fly the hell out. Got it?"

The evening falls. Carina is able to attract the attention of the Facility's Head Medical Doctor. As she heads off to her appointment, Michi meats the Nurse, Hannah, in the parking lot. Michi takes her out for drinks which lasts a few hours. After all is said and done, the shuttle is parked half a mile away, in the hopefully secluded area while Michi, Karl, Sarah, and Dorota walk in to the Hospital grounds carrying a sheet of metal to the back door of the Research portion of the facility.

Before the group reaches the door, a relatively small black ship with blue lights lands on the roof of the building.

"Cops or ambulance?" Michi asks.

Dorota glances up. "Blue Sun. Commercial version of the Wraith." She could probably rattle off the dang thing's specs right now, but doesn't.

Sarah nods, and adds as a soft aside, "Typically given to 'special' employees." How she knows that bit of trivia, she doesn't say, as she moves up to the door and it's card reader.

"Niou fun. Can't do much about it now. We keep going, hope this doesn't get in the way. Open the door." Michi orders.

Carrying things, Karl can do that, its one of the many things he isn't getting paid to do, but does anyway for a berth on the ship. He has no complaints, its been an interesting ride so far. Looking like he belongs well he has been trying to that all day, hopefully that has been practice up to this point. He pretty much ignores the ship, since that seems to be part of looking like you belong, ignoring the obvious.

"Just need to open the door, Doc." Michi says as she helps carry the big old piece of metal to the door. "All you."

Sarah smiles a bit, "As long as there's no pressure..." She takes out the freshly minted ID, then runs it through the reader as she doesn't pay the camera any mind.

Sarah slides her card through the reader and the light clicks from red to green. The door opens and the group walks into the empty hallway. The first floor of the facility is a long hallway that seems to turn in a circular direction as it moved farther into the building. Small windows in some of the doors off this hallway seem to suggest these first floor rooms are all offices.

"Pick an office. One that doesn't belong to someone too important." Michi mutters. "Guards know directors. They might not know who a middle management sort is." She begins scanning nametags on the doors. Important people often have their titles on such things.

Dorota nods to Michi. "And somebody less likely to be working late." She'd rather not have to knock out and tie up some poor person.

Sarah quickly moves to the side, finding a perfect office for a middle management researcher. She makes a quick tweak to the card she and Dorota made earlier, then slides it through, the light going from red to green as the door clicks open. She then mutters, "Hurry!" as she slips inside the office.

Dorota moves over to the computer, along with Sarah, and starts breaking into the system. "Third floor. Room 3. Names are John Chan and, surprise surprise, Blue Sun." Beat. "We need to move. That ship...it's here for him."

"What would Blue Sun want with a drug thief? I do not like the way this smells." Michi groans. "Okay. We go. Up the stairs. Third floor. Grab him. Get."

While the others were doing the job of searching for their target, Karl was busy, watching the door and making sure there weren't any guards looming.

Karl seems a little startled by one of those names "John Chan? You sure that's right?" he is looking at Dorota then waves his question away "Nevermind. I'm sure there are plenty of people named John Chan around." and he hides the uneasiness the name brings up behind a mask of stoicism.

The third floor of the facility is white walls. The hallways shine with an unnatural clean. No paintings or murals, just bright white. Room 3 is a plain door like any other on the floor. A plain locked door.

Michi mutters under her breath. "Its a prison. Clean one but I know a prison when I'm in one."

Well, Dorota caught that, but she shrugs. They've got a rescue mission to do for right now. "Yeah, or a containment facility for crazy people. Which means the same thing."

Sarah quickly makes a tweak to her generic ID card again, and once again, she swipes the card, the light going green and the door unlocking.

The room looks like an intensive care unit with monitors beeping and in a bed, there is a man unconscious and hooked up to all the monitors.

Dorota lets Sarah go first. "Check on him." For her part, she takes a quick look around the room, frowning very slightly.

Michi watches the hallway, but also goes over the race. There's another vehicle involved now, literally. Getting out of the hospital won't be the end of the story with that bird on the roof.

Sarah hisses as she sees the notes, checking on him, "He chu sheng za jiao de zang huo!" (Filthy fornicators of livestock!) Then she looks over at Dorota, "They injected a chemical into him to /make/ him comatose. I can probably counteract it, but we need to get him out of here."

"Of course they did. Is there a gurney?" She's looking for one right now. There should be, somewhere. Dorota doesn't want to carry the guy if she can avoid it. Or make Karl do it either.

"Dorota, over your shoulder. We don't have time for gurneys. Now." Michi says. "Karl, be ready to shoot. I'll get the doors."

Michi adds, "Cover fire, Karl. We don't need a murder charge on us."

"Oh, alright." She IS probably strong enough to fireman's carry the guy out of there...and Michi's right. There's no time. Dorota makes a wry face as she picks up their poor "rescuee." Who might be enjoying this if he was conscious. Maybe.

Karl is assembling his rifle as the rest are doing their thing. "There are six of them, and sorry to say, they know we are here." he loads the weapon nodding to Michi and is orders "Okay, I'll stick to just light maiming then." he says as he takes point on the way out, ready to lay down lead so the others can get out safely.

And just as the crew heads out of the patient's room, the opposition rounds the corner. 4 Large men in white orderly uniforms with 2 long security men.

"Everyone, the stairs. Karl, shoot the fire extinguisher." Michi feels that odd sense of calm. When other people are at their most excited, most nervous, and most jumpy, she's at peace. Life of a racer, baby.
