At the Kobukson

In the Cortex, there are rumors that Kuan Lo is a haven for smugglers, a literal hotbed of activities of the illegal kind. Of course, despite the rumors, there ain't no alliance ships hovering around and the area looks more like a run-down set of towns barely survivin' than any smuggler's haven.

As the crew and others head back to the ship, it is mostlike that whatever problem is going on with the engine will cost more coin than can be afforded though no one knows for sure until the new engineer discerns exactly the issue. It leaves for an unsettlin' silence as the shuttle navigates the quick desert hop.

Finally, the shuttle lands back at the Kobukson.

There's a loud clunking noise, as if pistons are being used to pierce the sides of the hull, as the mechanisms for docking the shuttle to the ship set into place. Michi, who is sweating buckets by the time the shuttle lands, stands up... and promptly falls down.

"Michi!" Carina calls out sharply as she dives to try to catch her co-captain before that hard head bounces off the decksole. "You better be a good doctor." she mutters snarkily.

With a slight sigh, "Sarah," Dorota says. "Please try and fix the captain and I'll go look at the engines." Without asking for permission per se, the engineer heads towards the ship proper. The worry's there, but she might be able to work a miracle.

Sarah blinks in surprise, not expecting Michi to fall down quite that fast. She moves quickly towards Michi, crouching by him, "Alright, Michi is it? You can call me Doctor Lee, and I hope you have a half-decent medbay on your ship." Her eyes flicker towards Carina, "I am. Now help me get Michi to the infirmary on the ship."

No Alliance ships is a fine thing as find as Karl is concerned. He isn't sure what the Alliance knows of him and he isn't right keen to know either. As the party traveled back he keep a look out for any dangers that could jump out an ambush them. Thankfully they make it back with little excitement. That is until Michi decides to pass out. "Let's get the Captain to the medbay." he says as he moves to take the Captain in hand..quite literally and begins to carry him into the ship and toward the medical facility.

The Medbay is nothing special. A little less than the basics, nothing more.

"This way to the medical bay." Carina comments, ushering Sarah forward and shooing her into the ship and across the passage behind Karl.

Sarah follows along after Carina, making sure she keeps her bag with her... probably because it has some supplies in it, no doubt, "Good. Hopefully it's well stocked at least, so we can get Michi taken care of. How long has Michi been having these symptoms?"

Michi barely moves. He does mutter. "Conventional wisdom on S13 Silvias and 240SXs is that you run staggered tire sizes, with something narrow, like a 205 or 215 in the front, and something wider, anywhere from a 225 to a 245, in the rear."

Okay...everyone's hustling for medbay. Dorota is more interested in doing her job, but she needs to get the lay of the ship. Not that she goes INTO medbay. There's not room for all these people in there.

"A couple of days?" Karl calls back as he heads into the small medical facility and dumps the babbling Michi into the one bed...chair whatever its going to be called. Once his burden is delivered he steps out to make room for the doctor and others that potenially can assist.

Pointing to Dorota "You. What's your name again?" Karl probably missed it in the original intros..if there were formal ones "I'll show you to the engine room." he takes a final look into the medbay before beckoning for Dorota to follow him.

"Dorota Kowal. Do not call me Dot, Dottie or any such variant or somebody will get hurt." She smiles to take the sting out of the warning, mind, then moves to follow Karl.

Sarah blinks at the medbay, and mutters "tian xiao de..." before she says, louder, "Well, it's... clean, at least." She then grabs a stethoscope from the rather sparse equipment tray, not bothering to sanitize it just yet as she listens for breathing, then for heartbeat, on Michi, "Let's see what's wrong you here, okay? Then we'll take care of those burns." Once that's done, she gets a thermometer for a temperature reading, trying to see what the infection is, and what's needed to mend it.

Sarah keeps muttering under her breath in Chinese, "Gao yang zhong de gu yang!" as she digs through the equipment drawers, finding gauze, scissors, and other such things so she can bandage and treat Michi's burns. Hopefully Michi wasn't /too/ attached to the shirt, since the sleeve was cut away so Sarah could properly apply treatment. "Now, let's see about this mysterious bug you have, hmm?" With that, she continues her examination.

"Yes miss." Karl says with a nod to Dorota, his tone compliant and not at all surprised by the demand. "Do you need me to get you the tools?" he isn't sure if she is packing her own or not.

Dorota nods. "Please. I have some, but not a full set. Let's see what you have here, though. What happened, anyway?"

"What more do you need, biochemistry-wise? I have a lab, elsewhere on the ship." Carina inquires of the doctor. She had no idea Michi was even sick until she wobbled earlier today, so she's feeling rather helpless and more than a little useless right now. She may be smart and incredibly well educated, but she's no doctor. So this woman is who Michi needs.

Sarah scrounges around the medbay, still muttering as she takes a broad-spectrum antibiotic and a syringe. Looking pleased, she sanitizes a patch of skin on Michi's other arm, then sticks Michi with the syringe. Then Sarah gets out a fluid IV, getting Michi setup to rehydrate as she says, "Won't need this for /too/ long, but well, better safe than sorry." She glances over at Carina and smiles, "Some broad spectrum antibiotics wouldn't be a bad idea. The virus isn't bad, but it was left untreated too long. Like the old flu, basically."

Karl is probably the last person to ask what is wrong with the ship, but he can tell Doroto what happened. "We were flying along and there was a very loud bang. When the captain and I went to check it out the whole engine cabin filled with smoke." like that is going to be at all helpful "It's just down that way." he points toward the engine room "I'll be right back with the tools." he then heads to get the tools.

"OW!" Michi's eyes fly open. Luckily, his weakened state keeps him from slamming his fist into the doctor's face. "What the hell?" Dorota moves into the engine room. Okay, she asked the one who's mechanically clueless. But he can pass tools. They can always pass tools.

Karl is quick to return with what tools they have. The sooner the ship is fixed the sooner they can get of this Gorum planet "Here ya are Miss." he sets the tools down, waving his hand at the greasy smoke that still lingers inthe engine room "I'm pretty sure that it caught on fire for a bit."

"Lie back, Michi. You collapsed. She's doing what she can to help you." Carina responds as Michi wakes up startled. "I only have a limited supply of antibiotics. But I'll go get what I have, and hope they are strong enough to help." She doesn't discuss what they're usually used for. But she's a Companion. Draw your own conclusions.

Dorota starts...exploring. She winces as she catches her wrist sticking it in. "Who was *flying* this bird?" she asks, finally. "We're gonna need parts. I know where to find them. And more tools." Which...well, these people look pretty broke and SHE is pretty broke. This might be a challenge.

Sarah smiles faintly, "You know, doctor and all that." She nods over at Carina, "That would be useful, thank you." She then looks back to Michi, "Once you're rehydrated here, you're on bedrest for the next three days or until I say otherwise." She grins sweetly, "Fight me on it or forget your medication and it'll end up being at least a week."

"Right." Michi lays back down at Carina's gentle urging. "I'll give it till tonight. Then we've got to figure out how to get off this piece of crap rock. Nice thing about being captain. I'm in charge."

"The captain was flying, who else?" Karl answers even if it was a rhetorical question. "When you say parts....do you mean a few small parts or..."

"Not sure yet," Dorota admits. "I have to take a few more things apart to be sure. But...not a few little parts, no. A couple of them are a bit bigger."

Sarah smiles wryly at Michi, "Being in charge doesn't mean your body isn't going to rebel, as collapsing on the way back here should show. Stubbornness doesn't treat a virus, but listening to your doctor can. Now, take it /easy/ alright?" She's not going to push /too/ hard, since she's new here, but she's got a responsibility to her patients. Especially the stubborn ones.

"I am. Until tonight but we're in the middle of the gorram desert on a gorram piece of fu and supplies ain't what they could be." Michi says, though to his credit he stays there on the surgery chair and doesn't move. "We're gonna need a job."

Carina heads down the passage and around to her cabin, and will return the same way, so she'll be a while before she can return with the antibiotics. As promised, it won't be much. But it is enough for two full 10-day courses of oral antibiotics, assuming Michi's biology will tolerate the same type that Carina's prefers. "This is what I have." she offers, as she stands at the door to the medbay, watching Michi with searching eyes, almost ignoring the doctor.

"I'm not dying, Carrie." Michi mutters. "Stop giving me the giant eyes. I know you use makeup to make them look bigger."

Sarah takes the offered drugs, and looks at them carefully, "Yes, these should be fine. The antiviral I gave you will be fine for now. But Don't. Skip. These." She takes a 10-day course and gives it to Michi, "Once you're out, take one in the morning, and one at night. And if you skip, I'll know, because you'll probably collapse again and be right back here. And I'll be angry." And you wouldn't like the Doctor when she's angry.

"I have not changed my makeup, Michi. Now shush and lie back. I will go check on our engineer and see what is going on." Find out how bad it is, and how much they need that they do not have and have no way to get. At least they're not sucking vacuum. One tiny upside, in a whole lot of downside.

"Don't worry. She won't let me forget." Michi says. He glances towards the door. "Since you won't let me move, hit the intercom button on the wall." Once Sarah does so, Michi calls out. "Some give me a gorram status report on my gorram boat!" Because, you know, Michi's in a mood.

"Well that's going to be problematic." Karl tells Dorota, "Unless you know of a place where we can get parts for next to free." highly improbable. "How big are we talking?"

"Like I said." She's still taking things apart. "I don't know exactly what yet, I'll have to make a list. Just be glad your captain's a genius." Dorota says that with at least some actual respect.

Sarah taps the intercom button as requested, "So it sounds like we have no supplies, no spare parts, and we need to get some ASAP? Does that about sum things up?" She says that both for the intercom's benefit as well as Michi and Carina's.

"Well he seems back to his self." Karl says, mostly to himself as the demand comes over the intercom. "It's still broken Captain." he says after pressing the intercom button "Dorota is still diagnosing. When we know something to report we will properly status you. Out." the finger comes off the button.

"I may actually need a consult. I know just who to go to...but this is gonna need special equipment. Who the heck installed this?" Dorota holds up what was probably an engine part. Once.

"BUN tyen-shung duh ee-DWAY-RO!" Michi spits the curse out. "Paid good money for them to build this damned boat and the engine FAY-FAY duh PEE-yen on us on the first trip. Hadn't even been in the sky three days. Fine. We're going to eat. We're going to sleep. And tomorrow we're going to find a way to fix my ship."

"Our ship." Carina offers. Just quietly. No fight here.

"Our ship." Michi sighs, correcting himself.

Sarah smiles faintly, "Just take it easy tonight. Plenty of fluids, too." She doesn't seem ready to let that go, either.

"Tomorrow," Dorota agrees. "We talk to Felix Gary and get your ship fixed." And if that means they have to make some kind of payment in kind or labor, so be it. It would certainly not be the first time for her. Not the first time at all.
