Punch It

The crew of the Kobukson are in quite a pickle as Bear Fluff is floating all over Carina's room and Michi sees the fighters passing through his visual. "Unknown transport ship, power down and wait for further instructions." The message repeats.

Struggling to contain and force down her revulsion at the brutal savagery unleashed upon poor Beary, Carina launches herself at the hatch to her room, moving as quickly as she can back to her communications station in the cockpit, slapping the all-call button even before she's seated or strapped in. "Dorota! I need you to put together a mini propulsion unit. It doesn't have to be super-fast, or have huge endurance. But something that'll move at least a few dozen Em-Pee-Ess for several minutes would be great. Karl, get that beacon to Dorota and attach it to the propulsion unit. Then launch it out the hatch as soon as you can. Let me know when. I'll do what I can to give them a sensor headache, try to split their attention and get as many of them as we can going after the beacon instead of us. Michi, you be good and ready to find that hole and get us the heck out of here."

While she's giving everyone the rundown of all of this, Carina has gotten back into her seat, strapped herself in, and is starting to work in the prep work for her sensory shenannigans. She'll need them to be ready to go mighty soon, so she can't waste time.

"... plans are good." Michi says, glad to see someone has one. Her eyes flicker from the radar panel to the instrument panel to the cockpit glass, moving back and forth as she works out vectors and routes and speeds. Calculating with that odd instinct pilots develop over the years. "Time to go fast." She says, pulling the sliders which open up the engines and pushing the throttle forward.

"Working on it!" Dorota's a little hurt...that she didn't think of that idea herself. It's a good one. She starts to jury-rig something together while she waits for Karl to find the beacon. Fortunately SHE doesn't see the bear-murdering. She'd probably be even more upset than Carina.

With fluff floating around, and bits probably clinging to his hair, Karl quickly finds the tracker and is about to put a boot down on it when Carina is giving orders on what to do with it. Sure that works too, grabbing the tracker he beats feet to the engine room to help Dorota with her task.

As everyone snaps to action, Sarah, having exhausted her stamina slumps a bit, leaning just outside Carina's door. "Go on ahead. I just need a moment. Then I'll be right there."

Dorota tugs out various tools, both from her belt and the engine room, and quickly puts together the propulsion unit. It looks like she might have done something similar...but there isn't much in the way of good parts. She's already mentally making a shopping list...

"Call it out when you get it launched, Karl." Carina mentions over the all-call, as she queues up her assorted programs. It won't last too terribly long, but as near as she can tell she has managed to arrange to bank the ship and discharge captured solar energy through the fins in a flash of static to briefly blind the sensors of the Alliance ships. She queues it all up to a single button, and then waits for Karl's shout before punching that button. Her toes are crossed inside her shoes; this is scary stuff.

Taking the newly built propulsion device with its tracker cargo Karl hurries to the airlock only to find a swimming pool in his way "I hope this thing is water proof!" between wading and the movement of the ship due to evasive manuevers the man is either slipping and sliding or being nearly bowled over. "I don't get paid enough for this." he mutters as he finally makes the airlock and gets to work jettisoning and maybe jettisoning some of the water with it!

Michi Nom has been an Alliance fighter pilot. And she's been an Independent blockage runner. She knows the tricks from both sides of the Black. Still, there's a swarm of fighters out there and they maneuver like bumblebees while the Kobukson maneuvers more like an osprey. Carina's trick with the sensors forces two of the fighters apart and Michi punches it, twisting a dial to push extra power into the thrusters and disabling safeties to heat the burn faster. "I recommend holding on!" Michi shouts as she twists the steering yolk, spinning the ship in space to present a moving profile to the fighter's sensors as the Kobukson spits fire like a dragon, pushing them towards the Black. Even still, the ship takes a few shots... luckily, their reinforced armor absorbs the blows.

The beacon is jettisoned just as Michi maneuvers around the fighters. With the achieved distance between the Kobukson and the beacon, one fighter breaks off to pursue the beacon leaving only two fighters on the ship.

Through Carina's sensor panel, words stream across. "I'VE BEEN SUSSED OUT. RETREATING. REMEMBER YOUR PROMISE."

In the cargo bay, another crate falls over, water splashing everything and sending Karl swimming away from the airlock.

Sadly holding onto water for stability isn't much help, and Karl is finding it hard to get anywhere with all this water flowing back and forth and splashing, there is a string of cursing from the man as he slides past the airlock on his way to the head, "Dorota, I'm going to need to borrow some of your tools!" he certainly hopes no one is going to have any bathroom emergencies any time soon.

"Got it!" Dorota's prepping the pulse drive, pausing very briefly to slide a spare tool bag to Karl. She doesn't ask what he wants it for. He'll probably tell her later.

"Our man on that ship is in trouble. He said 'remember your promise.'" Carina offers, as she keeps running sensor profiles and feeding data to Michi, hoping to give her co-captain and hot-shot pilot the opening needed to finally get them to safety.

Sarah shouts, "Quit jostling things! I'm trying to stay conscious here!" She makes her way sloshily to the medbay (thanks to all the water) and flops in the treatment chair, giving herself a Big Goddamn shot of a painkiller. From there, she does manage to remain focused enough to patch herself up. But remember kids, Sarah is a professional, don't try to be a crazy self-surgeon without training.

Michi reaches up and grabs the microphone for the ship intercom, then pulls it down and thumbs the transmit button. "Everyone best hold onto something." The mic is left to dangle on its chord as Michi twists the yolk to match the programmed coordinates for Kuan Lo. Then her fist comes slamming down onto the pulse button and the ship leaps forward as the rear lights up like a big old bright explosion.
