Lucky and Midge Night Out

After washing up later that evening, Lucius spies Midge heading down the Hallway. "Hey Midge!" He calls out. "You, Me and a few barrels of beer. Wanna come?"

Heading down the hallway, yes that is what Midge is doing, quickly and glancing over her shoulder as smoke...or maybe it's fog, floats in curls and tendrils from under her door. Nope that isn't suspicious at all. Hearing the call, or maybe just the word beer, draws her attention to Lucky "Beer...yes beer. I was with you all evening drinking beer." as she hurriedly passes Lucky she makes a grab for his arm and quickly descends the stairs and out. Nothing to see here...move along.

Lucius lets Midge grab and drag him off, but not before he stops to reclaim his weapons. He grumbles something about being unarmed as he holsters his firearm. Then it's off into the night. "The other day I spied a few decent Taverns. Good drink, nice entertainment," He says to Midge. "Or we can try something different. Your choice."

"Yeah, yeah." Midge readily agrees, mostly focused on getting distance between them and the place that are staying than deciding on where they are going "Any place is fine." if she could imply the farther the better she would. "Entertainment is good."

Lucius looks down suspiciously at Midge. "We will have an inn to come back to right?"

The question throws the alchemist for a moment and she just blinks up at Lucky for a moment "Oh yes, of course...you just might not want to take really deep breaths." or any breathes at all "Unless you like hearing the sound of purple." she gives a shrug...."I find it is a bit to shrilly for my taste, but hey, no judgment."

Lucius stops, pausing to think about that for a moment, including the fact that the Queen of Amethyst is at the inn. He chuckles to himself and says out loud. "I'm sure it will be fine. Let's go." Then he keeps walking down the street.

Midge refrains from mentioning the possible euphoric feeling that hearing the sound of purple can cause, because ya know TMI and all "Sure. It'll be great!" she agrees and even sounds like she beleives it. "So where is it we are going again?" is asked as she starts paying attention to what part of the city they are in and which direction they are going in.

Lucius is inclined to move towards the Onyxish quarter of the city unless Midge points in another direction. Even so, he kind of shrugs, going from amused to brooding. "Anywhere is fine. This whole business of ours is getting out of control."

Given the choice Midge would probably head to the dwarf part of town because, you know...beer and dwarfs together is usually a fun night that doesn't always end in a brawl, but it is certainly better when it does. So that is the direction she is steering the pair "Getting? I think it pretty much started that way...and has only gotten worse.

And steering is easy with Lucius. He follows gloomily along, a bit of a shadow among shadows along the dimly lit streets. "And it's going to get worse." And worse and worse. He trudges along in silence before asking. "You were awfully quiet at dinner. What do you think so far?"

Midge pauses as they turn the corner that leads to the section of town mostly comprised of drawves "I think that any further talk of this is going to make you want to drown in the beer instead of drink it." she points out, noticing that the more Lucky dwells on it the more of a bummer he is "Don't make me have to drag you back to the inn to smell the results of my alchemical accident."

Lucius sighs rather exaggeratedly. "You're right. My apologies." He bows low, deftly taking one of Midge's hands and lightly kissing the back of it. "Let us go frolick in that which will be talked of for months to come." And suddenly noticing that they are not headed in the random direction he had chosen, he asks. "So where are we going?"

Midge pulls a face at the chivalry but the idea of frolicking doesn't make it last long and she lets out a laugh "Won't be any of that were we are going. The Blighted Cavern. The third finest drawven establishment in the city." she nods at him. A dwarf place, definitely no frolicking, there is even probably a sign there that expressly forbids it. "And there it is." she points to what looks like a manhole cover like lid over a hole in the street. Dim light can be seen through two little fingerholes drilled into it.

Lucius eyes the small opening suspiciously. "What type of fun are we having again?" Maybe he should've been paying attention to where she was leading him.

Midge is already leaning over to lift the hinged cover open but the question has her looking up at him oddly "What kind of question is that? The fun kind of fun of course." she sweeps her arm in an after you kind of gesture, suggesting that Lucky go first.

On the other side of the lid is a short flight of carved stone steps leading down into a stone rough hewn tunnel that is lit by a flickering torch. Light and raucous laughter and upbeat music filters up, but the tunnel curves so nothing can be seen past that.

Uh Oh. Lucius eyes the winding steps and wavers only a moment before he shrugs off whatever misgivings he might have had. "Alright. Let's go have fun." He starts the trek down the steps. Thankfully, he is not the tallest human around though surely he has to duck his head a little bit.

"That's the spirit." Midge grins as she follows him down and closes the hole cover behind him. Being short even for a gnome, Midge doesn't have to duck as they head down the tunnel.

The tunnel only goes a few more feet after it curves and there is another set of carved stairs going down, sweeping around the interior wall of the cavern that the tunnel opens up into. Lots of stairs, it's a good forty feet down to the tavern proper. The reason why they call it the blighted cavern is easy to see...black sorch marks all over the walls, like someone in the past was lobbing fireballs at the walls. Stalagtites hang from the ceiling and from then are anchored flaming light sources, the kind seen hanging in a lot of taverns in the city. Down below stalagmites are used as supports for wooden table tops and a there is the obligatory bar and other typical tavern decor..only with a bit more dwarven flare. Lastly is the group of musicians, playing the type of upbeat, bassy music that is common in the dwarven lands.

Lucius takes in the scene before him, the depth of the tavern all the way below and the scorched walls. He waves to the scorched walls. "Do I see your handiwork?" He says though he might be joking. He makes his way down the stairs, trusting Midge to follow until they reach the bottom. Eyeing the residents of this lively tavern, he counts the handful of other races mixed in with the loud contrasting colors of dwarven style. In this sea of style, Lucius sticks out in his all black, somber outfit.

Of course Midge is right behind him, hand dragging along the wall as they head down the stairs. "I offered to add to the explody look, but the owner refused. He said he didn't want a skylight." she doesn't get it, clearly, but she doesn't seem upset about it. As they make their way to an empty table there are a few greetings for Midge. One dwarf asking her if she is going to get herself banned from this place too and how. "Two ales please and whatever food the cook is offering today." she requests of a serving girl as they pass one.

"It's his loss for not appreciating your artistic style." Lucius says as he follows Midge through the room. He takes note of those who recognize Midge and scans the room for the biggest looking trouble maker, then he points Midge towards an empty table farthest away from that one person. "And let's not get kicked out before we can enjoy ourselves." He warns, settling into a seat.

"I suppose." Midge doesn't belabor the point though and sits at the table and can actually be seen over it! Thank goodness for reasonably sized dwarves. She does notice that Lucky is trying to avoid sitting certain places and goes with it. "You talk like I can control that...it's not like I do it on purpose."

Lucius leans forward on the low table, feeling a bit like a giant. "Do what on purpose? Turn into a giant lizard and set things on fire?" A bit too the point he is and he hasn't had anything to drink yet. Though there was that small glass of wine at dinner.

"I haven't done that at a tavern since Vesicule." and it was only a small fire... the place was only closed a week. As the food and drink is brought she grins widely and lefts the large mug up to take a long drink "I can't promise I won't get us kicked out of this place, but I promise if I do it will be something you won't ever forgot."

Lucius chuckles and lifts up his own mug in salute to Midge. "I have no doubt. And surely, this evening deserves a bit of good natured chaos. Here's to a raucous good time before the big guy over there tries to kill you." Then he takes a decent sized swallow of drink, coughing the liquid down.

"Every night deserves a bit of that." though sadly isn't doesn't get it...at least not any Midge induced chaos...which is good the world probably couldn't handle that. A glance is given to the large dwarf that Lucky indicates "Don't say that to loud. You are going to throw off the betting pool." are there bets to how the little gnome is going to get herself banned, who knows. But she did mention this was the third best dwarven establishment, and could make one wonder why they didn't go to the first or second one.

Somewhere during the evening, there were conversations bandied about, arguments debated and the various other things that Dwarves are fond of discussing loudly. At some point during the evening, Midge made some comment involving a fish, the desert and the dwarf's clothing or was it his manhood? Either way, the flame was struck and the bar brawl began.

At some point, while the fighting was thick and heavy, a certain Dwarf pulled a knife right at Midge. Only then did Lucius pull his gun and shoot. The knife in the Dwarf's hand went flying, the Dwarf's eyes wide with disbelief. The sound as it went off reverberated through the entire cavern. All eyes were on Lucius, silent and wary about armed and incredibly scary looking individual. Apparently no one had seen the knife. "No cheating." Lucius said for all to hear, staring straight at the Dwarf. At that moment, Midge had somehow acquired a lyre. Someone, maybe a performer, had dropped it. Or maybe she managed to sweet talk him into letting her borrow it. Wham. Midge hit the dwarf over the head, wood and strings snapping, creating a dissonant twang and knocking out the dwarf. And That's when the owner appeared from the back and banned Midge AND Lucius from the Blighted Cavern.
