Famous Alchemists of Krystallos

Fadi Bahij ibn Nahid al-Zaman

Also known as Fadi the Cheerful, this kobold was born in the 195 year of the Age of the Verdant Forest in the Citrine Wastes. He didn't have the best start in life, as an orphan he bounced from orphanage to orphanage, until during his early adolescence he ran away to Ferric.

Little is known of what happened between arriving at Ferric and when he started dabbling in alchemy. He isn't heard of until his name appears as one of the apprentice architects that designed the great pyramids of the Citrine Wastes. His mentor, Salamah 'Ammar ibn Wi'am al-Yasif (see companion book, Great Architects of Krystallos) was a dabbler in alchemy and it is from this exposure that Fadi the Cheerful started his lifelong exploration into the study of alchemy.

He is most famous for his writings and experimentations in the creation of artificial life. His most famous writing includes a recipe for creating a living scorpion that could be fully controlled by the creator. He is touted as the father of alchemical simulacrum, for if it were not for his research and discovery we would not be where we are today in the field.

Fadi was integral in the early classification of elements into metals and non-metals, coming up with the categories of spirits, metals and non-malleable substances.

In his later years, he traveled extensively and shared his alchemical knowledge far and wide. It was these wanderings that led him to met with contemporary alchemist Godfrey Meinhert. Together they instituted the Alchemical Society which became the Alchemists Guild that we know today.

Fadi’s death is a mystery. Most believe that he finally succeeded in creating artificial life in the form of the scorpion, but he was unable to control it and he was killed by the very thing he created

Godfrey Meinhert

If you have heard of the Sage Stone, a stone not only capable of turning any metal to gold, but of also giving its bearer immortality. Then assuredly you have heard of Godfrey Meinhert.

Meinhert was born the youngest son of aristocrats in year 185 of the Age of Verdant Forest in the capital city Kingdom of Alexandrite. Born into privilege he lacked for nothing, least of all education. As a young boy he preferred the books in his family library and scholarly pursuits over the rough and tumble pursuits of his elder brothers.

Early on he was the bane of his tutors existence, with an eidetic memory and a boundless ego, he went to great lengths to prove to everyone that he was indeed the smartest person in the room, if not the entire kingdom. And that was very probably the case. His intellect knew no bounds.

Tankas the Muddler

Tankas the Muddler is revered with the Gnome community. Born during the Age of the Expanding Empire in the Topaz Rift, Tankas had the usual gnomish childhood and has apprenticed to an elderly alchemist at a young age. Even at a young age he was a forward thinker and pushing the limits of what was known in the field of alchemy. He was especially fascinated with pyrotechnics and substances of an explosive nature.

His experiments with explosives brought him to the attention of various military establishments. They wanted weapons to use in their battle against Tiamat and her slave armies. Many times he was asked and many times he refused. He made and perfected explosives for peaceful purposes, like mining, construction and glorious fireworks displays, not for war mongering and killing.
